Learning from others

I love how Mindy Lacefield creates her little people with all the bright and fun colors in their face. My girl may not be as bold but Mindy's art was definitely my inspiration. I think it is a good lesson in learning when you try on someone else's work. It gives you an opportunity to see and think like them if only for a moment. I also think it is important to give credit back to the artist for the inspiration and the new processes learned.

Thank you Mindy! :-)

Cute Collage Girl

This is just a quick and fun piece I made for fun. What better reason to create right? That is a Teesha Moore stamp in her hair and I think I am still going to add some words that will something to the effect of "Be still and listen to the voice of your soul."  I Love your comments so fire away! :-)

Merry, Merry, Homemade Giftwrap

I made this simple yet fun packaging to wrap some gifts for my friend Cynthia.
What I used: brown paper lunch bags, white acrylic paint (I have fallen in love with a brand called Cryl from Germany), permanent black ink pen, washi tape, blank tags.

I am sure you can figure out by looking at the pictures below how I created them. You should try it, so much fun! I love, love, love the black and white on the brown bag. Also, the washi tape and the tags are a fun touch and I liked figuring out a design for the tag to match the bag.

I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas!

p.s. the embrace imperfection stamp I used on the snowman came from Teesha Moore - she is a sweetheart and sent it along with a few others when I ordered her zines. Love her and her art!

Gift Tags and Paintings

I was playing with the Gelli Arts gel printing plate which is really cool! I did a bunch of tags and decided they would be cute to use as gift tags. Here is the first one I made and used on a gift to give away. I think it came out pretty cute!
FRONT

BACK

Here is a painting that is nearly finished. The only thing left to do is put the quote I made in her hair. It is going to say "Believing in yourself is your greatest source of power".

And last, here is a Jellypus I made for my Grandson's room. He wants a fun, aquatic motif. I thought this fantasy creation was perfect for a five year old. lol

I love the way they turned out!  See you next time. :-)

What's On My Easel?

This is my in-progress of the painting currently on my easel. I need to bust out some paintings because I have quite a few shows between now and the end of October.

This is called "Love Makes A Home" and is 18 x 24" on stretched canvas and I still have a ways to go with it.

New Art & Things in Progress

Just finished this cute little girl but I have no idea what to call her. Maybe something will come to mind once everything settles...

And here is a Rocket Boy. His background was inspired (copied - ha ha) by Mati Rose from her book "Daring Adventures in Paint". Definitely a fun read with some good ideas.

Here is a very orange little kitty I am working on. I used a product called Paverpol for the silk flower and leaves and then painted them. The Paverpol makes them kind of hard and a bit flexible which is ideal as an embellishment when you are using stretched canvas for the painting. I think I will use it again.

Do you think I need to add an ear peeking out on the left side? I keep going back and forth on that one.

And I finally got the words onto this painting "Beauty in Your Soul", so now I can call her finished.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope the rest of your week is awesome!

I have a new look!

I decided it was time for a change. Time to lighten up my blog from the very dark black to pale grey and whimsical. I even over-hauled my logo which I am really loving.
Let me know what you think of the fresh new look!
