Watermarks

It was suggested to me that I should put watermarks on my 2D work. I would like to hear from you what you think? Do they really safegaurd the work or are they just a bother OR is it another small way to market my name (I just had that small "Aha!" right now)?
Your thoughts please and thank you! ;o)

And now a small Sydd moment brought to you by: Grandma! I couldn't resist you guys! His face is a little messy from eating... His hair is Blue - yep. Good ol' fashioned Kool-aid was the styling gel of choice. He smelled so good!

Hi!! About Watermarks... really good ones to make it difficult for someone to use the picture...really interferes with the pictures. Regular type water markes can easily be removed by folks who practice digital stealing, but it does deter most folks who do not have digital abilities to remove watermarks. I ride the fence on this one...if someone really wants to steal it and use it...they pretty much can!! I would however, date and sign everything... but I am sad to say I am such in a rush all the time I do not do that!! SMILES

What a cute bundle of loveliness!

I'm personally not keen on watermarks - I find them distracting if they interfere with the image, and I'm in agreement with marzel, a thief will be a thief!

OMG...what a fabulous expression! He is just too cute!

Watermarks? I personally find them distracting, and if someone really wants to 'steal' a pic, they can usually remove the mark with photoshop or some other program.

If you are having problems with people copying your work though, you should maybe look into it.

Thank you for your most valuable input regarding watermarks. I have not had trouble (that I know of) with anyone taking my work but since a friend suggested it I thought I would ask. I think I will let the 2D art stay as it is for now.

Thanks for all the "love" comments on Sydd! I think he's pretty spectacular and he always brings a smile to my face.

Hello,
Sydd is adorable~

I struggled with the idea of watermarks.... I think your aha is the reason. If someone sends your image in a email to a friend and then it goes to 800 other people, if they want to contact you they can find you with your name. I think this is the best reason.
