In the Big Red capitol

I took some time off and went to visit my sister who lives in the state where Red is the number One color;  Lincoln, NE home to the Big Red Cornhuskers. I had a great time and was able to relax... and relax... and relax... Boy was that ever needed. ;o)  Beware as this is a photo heavy entry and not what I typically share when it comes to photos but I love the shots. Be sure to click on the photos that interest you for a larger view.

This is Big Red country:
Below: The state capitol.
Above: My silly Sister at work. :o)
Below: Some shots around town.

I love the old buildings and the bricks.

Fun wall murals - they do it to cut down on graffiti and it seems to work.

Below: An amazing show of tiny embroidery- almost all were 100% by hand.  I only wish I could remember the name of the gentleman who made them.  Photos just can't capture how amazing these tiny works of art truly are.

Below: In the quiet of the cemetary.  There is such beautiful artwork to be found here.

Below:  St. Mary's Catholic church where I spent my formative years every Saturday or Sunday.  This church is directly across the street from the Capitol building.  They were holding Mass or I would have taken some inside shots as well.  This church was featured in the movie "Terms of Endearment".

Below:  Out in the countryside.  You can actually breathe here.  I love the wide open.

Below:  Going Home... sigh...
